Local Council outraged by KCC plans for lorry park
Despite years of negotiation, Kent County Council have announced plans to build a park for over 3,000 lorries at Westenhanger, to the dismay of the MP and local council.
Shepway District Council and the MP for Folkestone and Hythe, Damian Collins have stated they would prefer smaller parks in the district to help with Operation Stack, but the leader of KCC wants one large site to accommodate thousands of lorries as well as smaller parks along the M20 corridor.
The Westenhanger site would have to be obtained through a compulsory purchase order which leader of SDC Cllr David Monk said he would fight.
