Fish & Chips, on a roof?

Something & Son, a London based artists' practice, have often produced projects that have tried to re-imagine the systems required to sustain human existence.

On top of the roof at the new Sixth Form Centre at the Glassworks, a humble poly-tunnel has been transformed into an eco-friendly, self-sustaining model for food production.

The structure provides a safe haven for potato and pea plants along with fish in specially adapted tanks creating a zero waste energy cycle and miniture ecosystem.

The outcome is uncertain but hopefully the food harvested will either be cooked an eaten in the school or sent to local fish and chip shops.
