Folkestone Sea Sport Open Weekend

The Folkestone Sea Sports is launching an open weekend this weekend in a bid to get people interested and involved in sea sporting activities. Run by Shepway Sports Trust, there will be kayaks; stand up paddleboards and topper dinghy sail boats, and a chance to find out what’s on.

Barry Pluck from Shepway Sports Trust said “currently on a beautiful calm day you may see a few individuals taking part in sport on the water; however we want to promote sea sports and ensure over the next few years we see more activity on the water and more people undertaking sea sports as a hobby”.

“The activities will be the same each day as long as the weather is kind to us. FYMBC will be showing people how to tie boat knots and running a challenge to see who can tie a knot in the quickest time. GenX Sports will have some kites on display, 501 Divers Club will be showcasing their diving equipment along with maps identifying where the wrecks are along our coastline. Finally Folkestone Sea Sports will have their fleet of craft on display and there will be the opportunity to have a free trial session with our Stand Up Paddleboard instructor. Kayaks will also be available to hire over the course of the weekend”.
