Her Majesty The Queen to open to visitor wing

The Queen will be arriving in Folkestone Thursday 26 March, to officially open the new visitor and education centre at the Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel-le-Ferne.

Accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, The Queen will tour The Wing, the site’s new building and meet some of the last remaining members of the Few, the aircrew who defended Britain from invasion.

After Her Majesty’s tour, a flypast by a Hurricane, Typhoon and Spitfire will mark the end of the visit, which will be watched from the new Cockpit Café if the weather is suitable.

Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, unveiled the Memorial in 1993 at Capel-le-Ferne.

Opportunities for members of the public to see the Queen will be limited as only invited guests will be allowed inside.

The new centre, built by the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust, at cost of £3.5m will be open to members of the public on Saturday 28 March.
