For the second year running, the MP for Folkestone & Hythe, Damian Collins, has organised a Jobs Fair in the town.
The Folkestone Status asked why this year the location had moved to the Leas Cliff Hall: “By popular demand really, the Jobs Fair at the Quarterhouse last year was very popular, very heavily attended.
“We had lots of businesses wanting to take stands and we really filled it up so we’re going to the Leas Cliff Hall to give more space and I hope we get more businesses along this year and also students from some of the colleges and some of the course providers as well.
"There will be some people that are looking for jobs , there will be other people looking for training opportunities, there will be people that are currently studying thinking they will be looking for a job in a few months time that want to find out a bit more about what’s available locally."
This year there are 31 companies who will be attending the event, including Howletts & Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, Holiday Extras, the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway and Avon Cosmetics.
Damian Collins MP said what the benefits are of having such companies under one roof: “The job’s fair helps break down barriers. Sometimes people might not feel comfortable approaching a business cold if they don’t know anyone there, or they might feel if they just send of a CV blind nothing will happen, but to actually meet the people that are doing the recruitment in that business, and for those businesses to be able to sell themselves to the candidates as well works really well."

The Jobs Fair have created a youtube channel with videos offering advice on start-up businesses and the job application process. In the video below, you can find out how to get the most out of this years Jobs Fair.
Damian said: “It’s good networking for everyone involved and I think it will help people to get in to the job market and help businesses find the talent they need."
