New Seaside Kiosk for Sandgate

A new kiosk which was developed after Sandagte Parish Council took over the lease from Shepway District Council, is now open for hot drinks, food and cakes with vegetarian options plus treats for dogs.

David Lewis and Clare Townley have leased The Boat House kiosk, situated right by the sea where the Granville parade toilet block is. Both have extensive industry experience; with Clare who has been a partner in the Mermaid Cafe (Lower Leas Coastal Park) for 17 years and David working for road chef for several years.

Looking out to sea, the tables for customers have fresh flowers and dogs are welcomed with a free dog biscuit with every drink or food purchased by their owners.  Sandgate Parish Council’s Chairman, Robert Bliss said they are delighted to welcome the pair: “Several bids were received from interested parties but Clare and David’s proposal looked the most exciting.  The Boathouse is an excellent new business for Sandgate and we hope that it will bring more visitors to the village and that all the businesses will benefit from additional footfall.”

During the summer opening hours will be approximately 10am to 6pm, with extended opening times depending on demand and good weather.
