Folkestone Beer Festival 2015
This is the seventh beer festival to run on Friday 11th of September until no beer is left Sunday.
The original venue was the lower station building for the Leas Lift (where they were known as the Leas Lift Beer Festival). They had 5 festivals at the Leas Lift before moving to their current location at Dance Easy. The original idea behind the festival was to find a use for the space in the lift's station house and to celebrate the unique location and the wonderful ales Kent has to offer. Their new location is the gorgeous harbour arm.
“We have grown since our initial festival where we only had a handful of beers to choose from to the selection of between 20 - 25 different beers and ciders. Our philosophy has always been the same, to offer great beer and cider from Kent in a friendly, inclusive atmosphere. Whether you're are a real ale buff or complete novice there'll be something for you to try and maybe change your opinion of real ales and ciders. We've never charged an admission fee and this year won't be different” said Ian Corbett one of the organisers. But of course he couldn’t have done this alone, with the two other organisers alongside, Peter Oetzmann and Adam Smith you can thank them on the day.
This year they have the usual mix of great Kentish beers and ciders and possibly a visit from a Belgian friend or two. They are holding their annual homebrew competition where we invite our customers to bring along a sample of their bathtub brew or kitchen concoction which will be judged by a local beer expert. Food will be on offer from local café Googies, who will be selling delicious hotdogs, a perfect accompaniment to a foaming ale or cold cider. With local folk band playing on Friday and a DJ playing funk and soul on Saturday night.
As a special offer on Friday they will be giving a FREE half pint to all CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) members with a valid 2015 membership card, with their first purchase of beer tokens.
They are open from 1pm - 11pm on Friday 11th September
And 1pm - 11pm on Saturday 12th
Sunday from 1pm (if there is any beer left - keep an eye on Twitter or Facebook for updates if you're planning to come on Sunday).
